Create Your Business Goals for 2021

Let’s be honest, 2020 was a CRAZYYY year!! But 2021 doesn’t have to be.

It’s time to get those goals in line, girl!

First, let’s talk about what a goal is. A goal is something you want to achieve. In business, it’s something that you want your business to achieve.

Why are goals important you ask? Goals help you stay on track and focus on priorities that are important to you and your business.

“Did You Know That….92% of New Year's goals fail by Mid-January?”

With that in mind, it’s essential to have a goal setting strategy in place by using the SMART method. This method is quite popular and can be used to create goals that will be useful for your business.

Specific

Great goals require you to narrow down and focus on something specific. If your goal is too vague, it will be hard to achieve.  Having a concise goal allows you to focus on what you actually want to achieve. For business goals, focus should be on selling and making profits.

The question to consider is:  What do you want to achieve?

  • Example: I want to sell more website design packages.

Measurable

Being able to track the progress of the goal is extremely important. If you have a goal that can’t be measured, you will have to go back to the drawing board.  Tracking progress allows you to see what actions are getting you closer to the goal and if any adjustments need to be made along the way. For business goals, this is typically a certain number.

The question to consider is: How will you measure progress?

  • Example: Sell 5 website design packages

Achievable

The goals you create must be logical and within reach.  A goal that is too ambitious will be hard to achieve. For business goals, make sure you have 3-5 action steps to accomplish the goal.

The question to consider is: What steps can I take to achieve the goal?

  • Example: In order to achieve the goal, I need to: Create Flyers, Do Livestreams, and Purchase Ads.

Relevant

The goals you create must be a priority for your business.  It must help your business in the long-run. Remember that what you do for your business today will affect your business tomorrow. For business goals, you should have an overall objective for the goal you’re creating.

The question to consider is: Is this goal important for my business?

  • Example: Selling 5 website design packages will increase profits.

Time-Based

Having a due date, deadline, or completion date helps you stay on track. Knowing when the goal has to be done adds urgency for it to be accomplished.

The question to consider is: How long will it take you to achieve the goal?

  • Example: I will sell 5 website packages in January.

Let’s put it all together.

In January, I will sell 5 website design packages by creating flyers, doing live streams, and purchasing ads to increase profits.

Now that I’ve broken down what goals are, why they are important for your business, and how to use the SMART method, I have a question for you.

What SMART goals will you set for your business for 2021?
