How to Start a Business for Under $100
We all have our own reasons why we want to start a business. Whether it's because we are tired of the 9-5 grind, want more time with our loved ones, or even lost our jobs earlier this year due to COVID.
I started my business because I remember sitting in my office feeling like the worst mother in the world because I had to leave my two-month old baby at the sitter. I knew I had to make some things happen so that I didn’t miss out on the little moments. This motivated me to break into the online space and show the world what I had to offer.
With money being a little tight, I had to get crafty with how much money I could invest in my business initially.
For service-based businesses, you will need the following:
A service to sell
A place to sell your
An audience to sell to
Sounds simple right?
Let’s break them down step by step.
In order to go into business, you have to have a service to sell. If you know what service you’re going to sell, that’s great. If you don’t here are a few questions to think about:
What are you passionate about?
What would you love doing?
What experience do you have?
What are your strengths?
Once you have answered those questions, you should be well on your way to figuring out what service you would like to sell. You can create your offer in GoogleDocs or Microsoft Word for FREE.
The next thing to consider is the place you will sell your service. You should create a website site to sell your services.
Websites typically run from $0-$29 a month. Wix, Wordpress, and Squarespace are some awesome options to consider when looking for a free or low-cost website. A bonus for all of these options is they have beautiful drag and drop features to make the design process seamless so you can start marketing your service right away.
The final thing to think about is where to find the audience you will sell to. Social media is the BEST place to start.
Social media platforms are FREE. These sites can put you in front of thousands of potential buyers. It’s important to start building relationships with potential buyers right away to increase your brand presence and let people know the services you offer.
*Please note, these costs don’t include legal structures or licenses.*
Once you have done the steps above, Congratulations!! You have started your online business for under $100.
